and here this morning to perform for us. should be a lot of fun. >> there we go. >> good morning again, i'm alison seymour. >> i'm tony perkins. going to be another warm one today. we shouldn't see records set, thank goodness. tucker barnes has more. >> hope not. upper 80s, low 90s today. cooler than yesterday. going to be a lot of clouds around and can't rule out the risk of scattered showers and storms. some of the storms could be strong later today as well. let's kick off with a look at our radar system here and show you, generally quiet at the moment. mix of clouds with a little bit of sunshine currently working through the area here. that will be the trend around here the next couple of hours. periods of peaks of sunshine. with the frontal system not too far away, i think the clouds will win out in the afternoon. couple of showers in central pennsylvania. that's our cold front and will continue to sag into the area later today and provide enough lift out there. we could have scattered showers and storms again later today. reagan national now 83 degrees. 78 at dulles. daytime

congress and the president strike a deal on spending and tax cuts. fox's doug luzader joins us live with the story. doug? >> reporter: good morning. the senate is going to hear from fed chairman ben bernanke today. there is more talk of the nation going over what's being called a fiscal cliff. if congress and the white house don't get on the same page in coming months, the results could be disastrous for the economy. the bush tax cuts come to an end at the end of the year, and at the same time, big spending cuts, including hits for the pentagon's budget automatically kick in. some think it could derail the world economy. >> on the fiscal cliff. it's clear that given the size of the u.s. economy, what was in the u.s. has large spillovers for other economies. >> reporter: the tax hikes could lead to a domestic collapse. >> that is a massive tax increase, when you have increases like that, that will precipitate the collapse. >> reporter: whose taxes, if any, should go up? the democrats want those earning more than $250,000 a year to pay more, and they are willing to go to the mat. >> i

us and really in pennsylvania, new jersey, new york, really hit hard. tucker barnes is here with us now with a little bit of recap, but more importantly what our forecast looks like for today. >> good morning. we're off to a warm and humid start today. we basically dodged the worst of the storms last night. risk is back and could see thunderstorms later today. be ready for that possibility. otherwise, another hot and humid friday afternoon. temperature now at reagan national, 79 degrees. 79 in washington. 74 fredericksburg. 72 in ocean city. our heat advisory is back, at least for the district and points east. heat advisory starts at 12 noon today through 7:00 tonight. much of the region, lower eastern shore, southern maryland, parts of virginia under that advisory. air temperatures in the mid-90s and humidity will make it feel like 100 to 105 later today. lots of water, that kind of thing, if you'll be outside, out and about during the day. showers, one or two to the west. left oversprinkle north of frederick and few showers out to the west. i think things will be relatively quiet

, but that was lifted at midnight. police expected to give us more information at 11:30 this morning. back to you. >> sherri ly, thank you very much. >>> disturbing and shocking story this morning, a 12-year- old boy in prince george's county is facing murder charges. he could possibly be charged as an adult. police have charged him with second degree murder as a juvenile. his father found the boy's 2- year-old foster sister unconscious earlier this week. the dad tried cpr but could not revive her. after interviewing the family, investigators determined the boy beat the girl to death. an autopsy has confirmed the toddler died of blunt force trauma. >>> more than 90 people will need to find a new place to stay after fire tore through their apartment complex in woodbridge. the temperature was so intense, that firefighters brought in fans and worked on rotation. three of them and one civilian were treated for heat related illnesses. the cause of that fire is under investigation. >>> it's now been one week since the deadly storms ripped through, but thousands are still without power this

us now with all the details, what we're going to need to stay cool today. >> i'm not happy about it. yesterday was a gorgeous day. temperatures in the upper 80s. later today you mentioned it, up close to 100 degrees with lots of humidity. dangerous heated moves in shortly. let's get to the radar. got one feature we have to watch. pretty good thunderstorm complex north and west of washington. well north and west there. north and west of hagerstown. this has been slowly making progress to the south and east. could give us a few showers or storms, at least for parts of the area and cloud cover to hold temperatures back a little bit as we start our day. otherwise, off to a warm and increasingly humid start to the day. 75 now in washington. humidity 76%. winds will pick up out of the south and west, gusting to about 15, 20 miles per hour during the morning hours. that will help pump in the warmer air that's off to our west. heat advisory goes in effect at noon today. all the counties in orange under a heat advisory. mix in the humidity and heat, will feel like 105 plus later today. the a

night. tucker barnes can tell us what to expect today. >> good morning. more of the same in the forecast today. temperatures in the mid-70s. later this afternoon, we have a flash flood watch, potential for additional heavy rain. storms moving in from the west. 76 now in washington. humidity 87%. winds out of the north and west at 6 miles per hour. the good news is the initial band of showers and storms that moved in last night well to our east. getting a break there. notice to west virginia and eastern kentucky cloud cover and showers redeveloping. low pressure will move in and along this frontal system, and as it does so, increased enhanced chance for showers and storms this afternoon. morning dry and cloudy. later this afternoon, look out for the showers. some could bring heavy rain. because of that, flash flood watch, starts at 12 noon, potential for 1 to 2 inches of rain in a short period of time. we know what kind of damage that can cause. all the counties west of the chesapeake bay under a flash flood watch starting at 12 noon today. i think the timing will be after 2:00,

wisdom martin who is monitoring this situation. he joins us live on the phone. wisdom? >> reporter: tony and allison, these are the woodlake apartments here in montgomery county. now, i'm told that -- i just spoke with the fire department spokesperson, i'm told that eight people had to be rescued by ladder. this fire started around 7:23 this morning, with flames shooting up high into the air. smoke into the area. the entire building had to be evacuated. it was a two-alarm fire. i've been told there was very minor injuries as well. several people have been displaced. two-alarm fire with about 100 firefighters battling the blaze that started in the back of the complex. they're not sure what the cause was. it's still under investigation. in a few minutes they say they're going to have an update for us as we're out here now. i've also spoken to some of the people who lived in that apartment complex and some of the people who live in the building next door. in particular, one man who lives next door, he said people were knocking on the doors telling him there was a fire, the fire alarm

couple of trees down, a few power lines but nothing like what we are seeing behind us at what used to be the chair fusion dance studio in fredricksburg, virginia. also fleming road. take a look. you can see through here, several hundred yards. the roof of the dance studio was lifted off, carried several hundred feet away. it landed on the roof of the home of an elderly couple. it was a microburst that may have made a bull's-eye on this office park in fredricksburg. the roof was ripped off while 25 people were inside. some cheerleaders and parents. it landed on the home of an elderly couple. that was knocked off its foundation by about two feet according to some of the people on the scene here. no life-threatening injuries but definitely some terrifying moments. >> the lady said it so we ran to the house. we had to kick the door in. >> reporter: those men say after they kicked the door in and went inside the kitchen was a mess. furniture was all over the place. they had to help the couple up and out of the house. obviously the home is uninhabitable. there were injuries at the dance studio

. building inspectors arrived a short time ago taking a look at what used to be the cheer fusion dance studio. you see the yellow sign there, danger. this building, as you can imagine has been condemned. take a look at it. there is practically nothing left. there were about 25 people inside. students, intructors and parents, when the half dollar size hail rained down. people said it sounded like an explosion as the roof tore off and the cinderblock walls collapsed. the roof landed about 300 feet away on top of a home. the house was knocked off its foundation. people rushed inside to help the elderly couple out. we got video of the front of the fleming center that got hit first by the strong winds. there is a mat stress store, beauty shop with daylight where it shouldn't be because parts of the roof are missing or collapsed inside. now, the owner of the hair salon and her daughter were inside the building. they managed to run to a utility closet. when everything collapsed they got trapped inside. neighbors in this business park rushed to help them out and tony and allison, the one thing

steps to make sure there are no additional problems. fox5's melanie alnwick is monitoring metro for us, and she is live at headquarters with the details now. melanie? >> reporter: good morning. the way metro explained it to me, is if you have a particular commuter program that causes your computer to crash. let's say every time you open up microsoft word your computer crashes, you wouldn't open word as a protective measure. so that is one of the measures the rail and the i.t. department are taking this morning while they still are trying to figure out what caused this computer glitch ads they're calling it. metro officials say in their view it is not a safety issue. the problem happened twice over the weekend. the computer malfunction that brought trains to a standstill over the weekend twice. it first happened saturday between 2:10 in the afternoon and $250 and again between 12:30 in the morning and 1:00 a.m. sunday. metro described the problem as something that was in its rail operations control center. there is a system, sort of a computer screen, that allows controllers to see wher
